Ongoing activities

FIDA-Ghana's activites for the year 2003 includes the following;

Sensitisation Workshops On the Domstic Violence Bill

FIDA-Ghana with funding from the US Embassy, is conducting a nationwide sensitisation program for a cross section of society and stakeholders to educate them and create awareness about the issue of domestic violence and the need for the bill to be enacted into law.

Sensitisation programs for School Children

FIDA-Ghana in collaboration with UNICEF will sensitise 3000, School Children in sixty Basic Schools and ten Parents Teachers Associations on Child Rights, Abuse, Violations, HIV/AIDS.

Legal Aid

FIDA-Ghana Legal Aid Services runs the whole year round with the exception of national holiday periods. The offices in Accra and Kumasi are usually busy with cases and volunteer Legal Aid officers work tirelessy to bring justice to many women and children in the Ghanaian Society.
In May, FIDA-Ghana with sponsorship from the UN Gender Systems Programme established a Paralegal Center in Koforidua, the Eastern Region of Ghana. The purpose for establishing the Center is to make access to justice for the women in Koforidua and its environs a reality.
