Directory for Programme Producers
Advocacy
Radio
and TV are strong advocacy tools yet few women make use of
them.WIB provides support in this regard. We use our privileged
position as programme producers, editors, directors, to bring
issues of women and children to the front burner.
Through existing programmes on radio and televison, we provide
the platform for women advocates to voice their concerns and
push forward their advocacy agenda. We therefore cover a wide
range of urgent issues- social, politics, economic and culture
which go a long way to inform policy decisions.
Information
Dissemmination
This
is one of our strong advocacy tools. The aim is to empoer
taget audience with requiste information in order to make
informed decisions. We package and disseminate information
on health, politics, conomic rights of women and human rights
and governance.
Media Encounters
Once
in two months WIB creates a platform for gender activitist
and government officials to interact with its members and
other media practitioners. The objective is to get acquainted
with their programmes and activities.

Training
Broadcast
Skills Workshop
Children from selected schools in Ghana are the target group. Three
hundred and 60 children from eight regions of Ghana have so far
been equipped with skills in interviewing, news reporting, anchoring
and presentation. Following the UNICEF sponsored workshops, the
children "broadcasters" have regular air slots on regional
and local FM stations where the peer education concept is taken
further through radio.
Gender
Training for Drama Groups, Film Producers/Script Writers
This
training aims at bringing quantitative and equalitative changes
into TV programme contents with respect to the representation of
women and children in the medium. Participants are taken through
gender concepts, with practical exercises in defining and identifying
stereotypes and negative images of women and childrne in their productions.
Training
for Members
One
of our training programmes focuses on building the managerial capacities
of members with a view to enhancing their access and mobility to
key decision/policy making positions in and outside the media.
Other
training programmes aim at keeping media women informed on development
issues, a well as skills acquisition in order to improve professional
standards and quality.
